As one year closes and another begins, many of us feel the pull to set resolutions — those promises to eat better, exercise more, save money, or finally break a habit. But while resolutions often begin with enthusiasm, they can fade as the weeks go by. Why? Because resolutions usually focus on what we want to do, rather than who we want to be.
Resolutions: Doing from a Place of Expectation
Resolutions are often built on external outcomes — goals we think we should achieve. They’re driven by willpower and a desire for change, but they can also come with pressure and self-judgment. When life gets busy or motivation dips, the resolution can start to feel like a burden or a reminder of what we haven’t done.
Intentional Living: Being from a Place of Awareness
Intentional living, on the other hand, is about aligning daily choices with your core values and purpose. It asks you to slow down and ask:
• What truly matters to me right now?
• How do I want to feel each day?
• What kind of person do I want to be in my relationships, work, and wellbeing?
Living intentionally doesn’t require a new year — it’s a practice of conscious awareness, revisited every day. Instead of chasing outcomes, you cultivate habits, boundaries, and mindsets that naturally move you toward what feels meaningful.
From Resolution to Intention
Try shifting your focus this year:
• Instead of “I will go to the gym three times a week,” try “I will nurture my body with movement that feels good.”
• Instead of “I’ll spend less time on my phone,” try “I’ll be more present in my connections.”
• Instead of “I want to be more successful,” try “I want to use my energy in ways that feel purposeful.”
Intentional living isn’t about perfection — it’s about awareness, alignment, and compassion. When your actions flow from intention, change becomes more sustainable and far more fulfilling.
✨ In our Coaching Community, we believe that small, conscious choices create meaningful transformation. This year, instead of making resolutions, choose to live with intention — one mindful moment at a time.
